Creating Connection and Influence Through Story Telling
You’ve heard it before - Facts just tell, and stories SELL. But, what does that mean really?
It means that we, as humans, connect more with stories than just meaningless facts and figures. Those tend to fall on deaf ears. Not that figures don't matter, there just has to be some inspiration and motivation to even take the time to consider figures (if someone is a "figures" type person).
Here are some ways to Sell with your Story…
Many of us have a struggle to success story and people love these. Think of movies that you love - the hero most often struggles into the depths of despair and then rises from the ashes as the hero. Learning to share your struggles that led you to network marketing and the challenges you overcame will inspire others.
The struggle is the hook that will capture your audience.
Be conversational as you share your story. Don’t make it a sales pitch or too weighted with sales language. Make it funny (yes, funny), heart warming, authentic and learn to pull your audience toward you instead of pushing your message on them. Again, we are all human and really just want to feel a human connection through a good story with a positive outcome.
Finally, make sure you are relatable as well as credible. The truth only, here please. No fake it til you make it! If your prospect doesn’t believe you, all bets are off. You’ll NEVER get that second shot.
I heard a great line the other day and will live by this business concept. To be successful in today's world business must provide "commerce with the promise of human connection." This is the essence of Network Marketing and many other business today!
With gratitude,
Allison
